Do we need a skating forum for the southeastern US?
I am seriously considering buying a domain name and starting a skating forum that caters to the southeast.
I will do some resaerch, and if there is nothing like that, I will go ahead and build it. Show of hands; who wants one?

RE: Do we need a skating forum for the southeastern US?
Well, I made a decision. I am now the site owner and developer of SouthernSkater.com
I will take my time developing this site. I feel that it is a much needed site. If I am wrong, at least I took a shot.

Update. The board is up and running solidly. Starting to build some good content, but only one other member so far. I expect the board to get going in fits and starts. I just have to be patient. I am confident that this forum will be successful based on my research.
Be sure to check it out. I made a cool new 3D logo. http://southernskater.com Every Saint has a past. Every sinner has a future. Oscar Wilde ![]() My other sites: http://mississippi-mud.com http://southernskater.com |

RE: Do we need a skating forum for the southeastern US?
SouthernSkater.com continues to grow, but nowhere near the rate that I expected. Don't get me wrong; it is coming along nicely. It is just a bit more work than I anticipated.
Starting a forum community from scratch takes alot of effort to get the word out. I try to meet as many people as I can and give them small handouts with the site info, but so far only a couple of them have checked out the site. They all act excited and say they will check it out, but most are just being kind. I am learning how to get the site noticed by search engines. I am also learning about site analytics. All of this new knowledge will help mississippi-mud.com as well. Anywho, I just wanted to post an update. Every Saint has a past. Every sinner has a future. Still growing. It is like a very impressionable todler right now. It needs lots of attention brfore it can walk and talk on its own.

RE: Do we need a skating forum for the southeastern US?
The site is starting to develop its foundation. Two very impressive people just took on supermod responsibilities, and are helping to shape the site. Bill and Courtney are from different genres of skating, which will broaden the appeal of the site without being weak in those areas.
I couldn't be more excited about the future of this project. We also got an endorcement from a local rink, who made a special offer for 1/2 price Turesday nights if you say you read about it on southernskater.com. How cool is that? I have alot of promoting to do yet. It is off to a seemingly slow start, but it is on the right track to be a top notch site. Every Saint has a past. Every sinner has a future. Still tryig to build this site. I get a new member now and then, but they lose interest quickly because there is so little activity.
I just sent a mass email to try to get several members back on at one time, and maybe energize it that way. It did not seem to do much, but it did wake up a couple of members. One of the members was honest enough to admit that they don't visit because it is too slow. Frustrating, but getting better all the time. Every Saint has a past. Every sinner has a future.
